One of my recipients made no comment or acknowledgment :(  Maybe she's out of town? Or LIVING or something;) Hate to think it wasn't liked, but hey, it happens, a lot I bet. It's not that big a thing - it just happened that this was the story I ended up being the least certain about. Annnd also, I figure the journal's here for whining, if that's what I want to do. So I did. Whine in it.

But in the main, my recipients seemed to really enjoy the stories, especially the story I actually planned. That one seemed ECSTATIC and it was wonderful, made me very happy!

Anybody done one of those year end things re: your art, vids, writing, whatever? If you have I'd like to see! I might have missed it.

Hey, this is your journal, and IMO, you are totally entitled to whine in it, once in a while. :-)))

It IS the holiday season. Maybe your recipient is off to Hawaii on vacation or something. Poor thing! :-)))

If everyone else responded to your stories, try not to feel so bad about this one. Maybe she'll get back from Hawaii, all tanned and rested, and send you fantastic feedback. If not... well, I know how you feel. I mean, you wrote it specifically for her, and did your best, so the least she can do is say thanks.

I've never taken part in gift fiction exchanges, because I'm just not any good at writing what other people want to read. I have my own way of looking at things, and I like that, and I find it very difficult to bend my preferences to suit other people. I think you are very brave to take part in these exchanges, so just give yourself a pat on the back.

A few weeks ago, someone on a comm I belong to mentioned that she'd like to read some stories on this certain topic that she had just come up with. I ran off, all excited, and wrote a story on this topic, because she had inspired me. It was just a quick little story, and probably not at all what she wanted, but here I was, a few hours later, posting that I'd written a story like that. She didn't even acknowledge my post, and say that she'd run off to read it, soon as she had time. I mean, I thought it would have been polite to acknowledge that I'd written something she asked for, even if it wasn't a formal exchange. So, I know how you feel.

There! How's that for whining? :-)))

I might write a year-end wrap-up this year, though that's rare for me. I have some things to whine about, and get off my chest.

Happy New Year! :-)))

first, Happy New Year to you!!! I hope you have a really wonderful one this time around.

I bet you're right and she just hasn't seen the story for whatever reason, but yeah, I wanted to howl a little:) My other three recipients at Yuletide were so, so nice. As for your experience with writing for someone, I hate that they didn't say anything:(

I hardly ever write for other people, but in Yuletide, you offer several fandoms you feel you can write and what main characters, and then Yuletide tries to match you up. You go read your recipients LJ and hopefully they've written a Dear Yule letter in which you get to find out more of their preferences.

I wrote my main story from the match Yuletide gave me, then the other three was me looking through other requests and filling them as gifts. Fun stuff.

and PS: I have really loved your gifts, and PLUS they have, a couple of times, reminded me to do the same and send them out as well, so it's very good.

Oh, that's a major bummer. Did you check if they posted that they would be AFK, either on their own LJ or on this post? If not, then that's terribly rude to not even acknowledge the story. But from some of the posts at the YT comm, I guess it happens way more than it should. Sometimes, recipients who default "drop out" of the whole YT experience. They should still acknowledge their own gifts, of course, but are maybe too ashamed? Or maybe it was something Beyond Their Control. I mean, you hope nothing really bad, but shit does happen.

I hope that story did get some feedback, even if it wasn't from the intended recipient. Your misgivings aside, I'm sure it's worth reading--you wouldn't have posted it otherwise. :)

Well, the longest, planned story got less reaction than the one I'm talking about, actually, but I sort of expected it. And the great thing was that the recipient was over the moon about it:) It makes all the difference.

This one I'm whining about got a couple of lovely comments, but I guess I'm unsure of it enough that it makes a difference. At which point I really am whining, but I love that very tiny almost non-existent fandom very much and I think it's HARD to write and get tone right. And as I said I'm not sure of it, so I'm probably wanting petting over something not very good:(

I TOLD YOU IT WAS WHINING, so you can't say you weren't warned! xoxoxoxo, me

Like [livejournal.com profile] greenlady2 says, your LJ, whine at will. :) But I know what you mean. I suppose it's inevitable that some stories aren't as wall-written as others, relatively speaking. Doesn't mean it's bad--as the ones who did comment obviously thought. :)

Of course, easy for me to tell you that, even as I'm having some second thoughts myself. :-P Not because of the recipient, who left a wonderful comment and even recced it. But I rushed at the end and I'd dearly love the opportunity for a do-over. *sigh* Maybe the recipient won't mind me taking another bite at the apple after the reveal, we'll see.

ah, sweetie, you can always still edit if you really feel the need. If you're anything like me, it'll bug you to death until you do it, anyway. If the end's a big change, I suppose a heads up to the recipient would be best. If I were the recipient, you'd have my blessing to do so.

But believe me, I understand what you're saying.

PS: Part of my message got wiped out. I wanted to also add that I just knew you'd be here comforting me, and that you are a sweetness. I hope you have a wonderful new year:)

again, so sorry about this, but thank you so much for the wonderful story, and I'm so glad I saw it this morning - it's like having a second Yuletide! I love it lots and lots, and I appreciate anyone with lots of love for that book - you write the boys so well! <3

I'm sorry you saw this - I feel a little silly. It's fine, I knew you were likely unaware of it someway. Just I'm having some weird sensitivity about this story because I love the book so much, or maybe because I wish I had made the story MORE, someway. Something. Anyway, from one Long Walk fan to another, I am awfully glad you liked it.
