self promo meme - day 6
Jun. 19th, 2014 11:46 amBest episode ever: The Bounty Hunter (with Louis Gossett, Jr.)
This is a vid I did, back when I was still doing them.
Here's the ones we really enjoyed:
(RPF) Hugh Jackman - Gorgeous
Hugh Jackman is hard to resist (and why would you? We didn't). I was wincing a bit, like a tiny little embarrassment squick - but as the title of the vid says, he's gorgeous and charming. It's just, he *wiggles* (heh) and stuff. A quirky, cool little vid.
for Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - Tik Tik Tok Tok
Snappy, catchy, RDJ in all his glory
(RPF) Martin & Lewis - What I Like About You
Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis - nose to nose, licking, leaping, breathing each other's air. This is fucking cute, one of those vids that make you grin:)
The Losers - Cuz I Can
Is there anyone you can't ship in this movie? Pretty, charismatic people and lots of action
Interview With the Vampire - Trouble
Louis/Lestat - I was always pleasantly surprised by Tom Cruise's vampy, arrogant interpretation of Lestat (I thought he'd be just awful in the role). Now, these actors aren't who I imagine when I think of Louis and Lestat, admittedly, but nevertheless, Louis' angst and Lestat's predatory interest in him makes a nice case for the ship here. Really enjoyed it.
There are others I enjoyed as well, for various reasons - the Prince vid, the Bride of Chucky vid, Vikings vid, another of the Interview With the Vampire vids - and I haven't seen all the vids as of yet.
I love Festivids! And thank you, vidders and folks who've put this together, for a fest I look forward to every single year:)
P.S. - while I'm at it, a non-Festivids vid rec - Bagira's Vampire Party features clips from vampire movies and some awesomely suited music. Lots of gore, and if I can mention something really picky - the first part, to me, goes on a tad too long, but screw it. It's seriously excellent. I can only wish to make vids like this. The more I play it, the more I enjoy it.
a new Hercules story and my vids
Oct. 31st, 2013 11:31 amVidding - I was never very good at it, had nothing close to technical proficiency, but I had FEELINGS, you know. I think two or three of them move fast enough or have enough humor or are short enough to still be fun. The rest? I repeat - I had feelings. Some are pretty bad.
My favorites, the ones I can still watch, anyway, are Mighty Fine, Supernova (NSFW), and Drive My Car. I have much nostalgia, too, for Valley of the Shadow and the Alias Smith and Jones vid. The rest, eh, I'm not sure why I kept them. Very slow or too long. But it's part of my fannish history, and I put them all on A03 (I love how easy it was to do that).
They are here.
The story is from a prompt my pal gave me in 2010 - it was supposed to help me have FUN. Fun is not a thing I do all that easily nowadays, but I managed it, yeah, three years later. Fannish space will always make me happy. It's so important to me. Anyway, it's a Hercules: the Legendary Journeys story. I didn't rewatch or anything and it's been a while, but it is porn, and it was fun. I am a little bothered because I want Iolaus' voice to sound more like Iolaus, but I'm gonna leave it be. Because I had fun:)
Curses and Brown Suede Shirts

With this year's festivids, Cass and I are working on Vid Show I now. Good grief! I love it. I'm also dealing with frustrating technical difficulties. First, I'm not technically inclined, so I'm starting at a disadvantage, frankly. With the external speaker system I have that works so well for the vid shows, it's still easiest just to use our HDMI cable to connect the TV to the laptop, play the vids off vlc and deal with all the different vid formats that way. But my hope is to find something that will play the vids off our Playstation 3 through our external hard drive - I'm exploring different options now. So far I haven't gotten the PS3 Media Server to work the way I'd hoped.
Here's my normal recap so you'll see what we look for when we put together these shows - first, we tend to like some raucous music, some rock, so you'll see that here. Our somewhat infant brains must be stimulated by loud sound and lots of movement. Overtly romantic songs aren't going to rule the day. But then we turn around and listen to some soft, sad stuff, or things even I find hard to understand us liking. We love Supernatural and have tons of vids in that fandom, almost half of what we watch through the first 7 vid shows. Sam and Dean's our OTP, so you'll see Wincest in some of the vids, and none that are mostly Castiel (we like him, but we're not fannish about him). Then we have some tiny fandoms where there isn't a lot available (that we know of, at least)- Blood Ties, The Borgias, True Blood, The Eagle, V, and many others. Sometimes we save vids wherein we're not even familiar or don't particularly care for the source material, if we like the vid and music. We have quite a few of my vids in here as well, mostly because Cass wants to see them (I like a couple of the vids I've made, but the quality of the videos themselves are pretty bad - not something I plan on fixing) and because they're mainly Starsky & Hutch, a show we'll always love:)
We are huge fans of all the wonderful vidders in our shows, and thank all of you for passing on the fandom love:)

it's time for Vid Show B
Oct. 29th, 2011 01:28 amB below
While I've been working on this entry, Cass has been very busy and gotten some of her favorites up for Vid Show H, so now we have 8 shows. I love the Witchblade vid she sent. Plus I've added vids, too, because while doing these posts, I see a ton of other vids at the various vidder sites and have to go grab and view - Mary Crawford's Improper Dancing, for example - love it, and it's in the H show now.
To recap from last vid show entry: First, we tend to like some raucous music, some rock, so you'll see that here. Our somewhat infant brains must be stimulated by loud sound and lots of movement. Overtly romantic songs aren't going to rule the day. But then we turn around and listen to some soft, sad stuff, or things even I find hard to understand us liking. May. 15th, 2011 12:16 pmSPN favorite vidder
Jun. 1st, 2009 04:49 pm
It's a tough call. There are several vidders in this fandom I'm pretty rabid about, but for me the vidder who consistently knocks it out of the ballpark is proofpudding.
If you know me, you know I tend towards hard rock music, which makes her even more of an interesting choice for me to list as a favorite vidder -but even if I don't at first love her musical choices, they almost always grow on me to the point I'm totally converted when I see what the vid is communicating. She just sells it to me, each and every time.
To start off, the colors are gorgeous (I've actually made several backgrounds for my desktop from her vids, and oh I WISH I knew how she does it) - so clear and contrasty, often very warm-colored. I love that the sense of motion flows like something instinctive. The cuts always make sense to me. Quite a bit of her work focuses on character, exposing facets therein which I love. IF WE KEEP LIVING THIS FAST has a really amazing sensuality about it thanks to the clips chosen, how she uses them (close-ups, the speed played) and especially the soundbits included from the episodes themselves.
I really have too many favorites to name, but I'll try and pick a few:
helluva beat and the first one I hit on of hers - We Will Rock You
Born Under a Bad Sign (yeah. Sam.)
heartbreaker - Stay Awake
SamnDean - With You
this really doesn't cover all my favorites. It'll have to do, because honestly most of her vids become favorites.
I'll let you know what happens.
