I'm going to tell you what's going on with me. My husband lost his job at the end of July. He's been dealing with his mother, who has dementia, and has to be placed in an assisted living center. Luckily she has the retirement funds to go to a nice place and even bring her dog. Anyway, he's very stressed. Everything that can go wrong has gone wrong, and he's fighting every inch of the way to get things put right. His sister's in another state and can't/won't help.
We're in a situation where his mom's roommate (read: squatter) is almost more difficult to deal with than the whole mom situation. She's trashed the home, for one thing, and we can't have his mom going back there until she's admitted into the facility because the woman is poisoning m-i-l's mind, scaring her . She doesn't want her free ride going away. Like I said, m-i-l has enough money to go to a very nice place, but the house will have to go since there's still a mortgage on it, and in the condition it's in we're just letting it go back to the bank. We'd hoped to get m-i-l in the place as of last week but snafus kept on and on and on. She's at my mother's house now. Mom's really wonderful with her, and I am so grateful.
At the moment our money situation is extreme. Me, I'm sick and seeming to become chronically so, and I hate it with everything I have. The family needs me, not this shit, but I have to accept that I've got to take better care of myself or I'm going to be a liability.
However: my husband has a job interview Wednesday. Good pay. Maybe more travel than either of us want, but there you have it. Wish us luck?
I'm dealing with it, got a handle on it as much as I can and planning as much as I can. Things are so stressful. I guess I'm telling all this because I'm not around much lately, growing further away from it all. Just keeping a point of contact (or something).
Also, I'm very proud of my husband - of his patience and his doggedness to do the right thing in hard circumstances. And my mother has been incredible.

You might find some info that's helpful in dealing with the house and assisted living and all. you can come to the Forums/Community, too - we've lots of great people there who've been there, done that, to advise as well. :)
