SPN season finale - 6 things SPOILERY
May. 14th, 2010 12:09 am1. Some of my flist says Sam at the end was a ghost, some say it's Samifer or just our Sam. I say it's Sam, in direct response to the narrative where Dean is asking Cas what he gets out of this, and that he didn't get Sam back. But I say ChuckGod (lol) did hear him. And Sam's going to walk away so that Dean can have his normal life...until Dean finds out Sam's alive. The sooner the better. Get thee behind me Lisa! And speaking of...
2. I understand she's Dean's fantasy of normal, but a weekend fuckathon does not a life partner make. You may trust my judgment on this. Even if they might have possibly made a baby (that's a whole nother discussion).
3. Amulet? C'mon, amulet! It was supposed to reappear, dammit!
4. I cannot call a place a home unless it comes equipped with a toilet. No matter how dear or how important.
5. Fuck, did you see those two? SamandDean, just... I can't even. The Impala, Def Leppard on a cassette tape, a toy soldier in an ashtray and two brothers who love each other more than anything saved the world. It works.
6. God banged a fangirl? Help me Obiwan.

I sort of loved this show. A lot. I will probably have it memorized by summer's end. :)

Date: 2010-05-14 12:22 pm (UTC)I rewatched part of it this morning and yeah, Dean and domestication...maybe Kripke thought that's how it WOULD end from the beginning of it, but the way the show has played out doesn't make that feasible for me anymore. If ever, really. He's a hunter and he's Sam's big brother. I don't know if he can ever be anything but, no matter what he told Sam about needing to grow up, too.

Date: 2010-05-14 09:45 pm (UTC)SPN has made me believe in the impossible, but Dean is only human, and him settling down would defy all laws of credibility. He is what it is.

Date: 2010-05-14 07:00 am (UTC)You're right. Dean doesn't do domestication. Not in his DNA.

Date: 2010-05-14 12:13 pm (UTC)You're right, too, even if maybe Kripke actually planned that one from the beginning - it's just really not doable for Dean now if it ever was. Interesting though, that Sam wanted normal so bad and he's standing outside staring in at it at the end. And I guess he's still really NOT normal, not if he can black out street lights without touching them, apparently. But they made sure to make that point this season, that his whole life has been managed and he was never going to be normal.
Where IS that rugaru? We have need.

Date: 2010-05-14 09:52 pm (UTC)"Swan Song" was an appropriate wrap to the story arc - but I'd love to know what changes happened once they knew there'd be a Season 6. Maybe it was as simple as adding that final shot of Sam. Sam? Sam's spirit?
Egad, but it's going to be a l-o-o-o-n-g summer's wait :-)
