1. Some of my flist says Sam at the end was a ghost, some say it's Samifer or just our Sam. I say it's Sam, in direct response to the narrative where Dean is asking Cas what he gets out of this, and that he didn't get Sam back. But I say ChuckGod (lol) did hear him. And Sam's going to walk away so that Dean can have his normal life...until Dean finds out Sam's alive. The sooner the better. Get thee behind me Lisa! And speaking of...

2.  I understand she's Dean's fantasy of normal, but a weekend fuckathon does not a life partner make. You may trust my judgment on this. Even if they might have possibly made a baby (that's a whole nother discussion).

3. Amulet? C'mon, amulet! It was supposed to reappear, dammit!

4. I cannot call a place a home unless it comes equipped with a toilet. No matter how dear or how important.

5. Fuck, did you see those two? SamandDean, just... I can't even. The Impala, Def Leppard on a cassette tape, a toy soldier in an ashtray and two brothers who love each other more than anything saved the world. It works.

6. God banged a fangirl? Help me Obiwan.

I like the idea of GodChuck (I like that name better) bringing Sam back, but then what about Adam? Did he get booted upstairs?

I predict the apple-pie life won't be all that it's cracked up to be for Dean. It'll make it easier to leave, IMO, when he gets wind that Sam isn't downstairs.

Speaking toilets...men don't need toilets. Ask my husband. LOL

This episode has put me closer to a Sam/Dean relationship than any other. It verklempts me just thinking the flashbacks and them being together.

ha, you're completely right. Toilets are not a necessity for men (young ones, anyway;)

I agree with/hope your prediction is true. I'm not all that upset about Lisa though I admit I just DON'T WANT HER.

I've always loved Sam/Dean, but I deal with my fiction(al) life very different than RL, they're just 1000 miles away from each other and I'm comfortable with it. The intensity of the SamandDean relationship is what does it, IMO, also the isolation (we believe in/kill monsters but most everyone else doesn't) and "neurotic, erotic codependence" issues that trample all over the show and is really pretty much the heart of it.

oh, about Adam - I didn't even think about him. He's pretty insignificant to me. After all, Dean only asked for Sam back;)

Love can save the world. Winchesters can certainly do it. I love my boys.

I am looking forward to Season 6 so much. If it had ended this way I'd be horribly sad, but this is perfect for a lead-in to next season.

Domesticating Dean is as feasible as hitching up a tiger to a plow.

I vote for feeding Lisa to the rugaru :-)

This is so true!

I sort of loved this show. A lot. I will probably have it memorized by summer's end. :)

I sort of loved it, too. I have my doubts about ChuckGod, but it fits in with the way the show does things, somewhere along the lines of an actual physical loss of an angel's grace (rolls eyes a little).

I rewatched part of it this morning and yeah, Dean and domestication...maybe Kripke thought that's how it WOULD end from the beginning of it, but the way the show has played out doesn't make that feasible for me anymore. If ever, really. He's a hunter and he's Sam's big brother. I don't know if he can ever be anything but, no matter what he told Sam about needing to grow up, too.

I'm not 100% sold on God!Chuck, though I love last night's Chuck to pieces (shades of Richard Dreyfuss in Stand By Me)

SPN has made me believe in the impossible, but Dean is only human, and him settling down would defy all laws of credibility. He is what it is.

I watched it 3 times last night (and cried in different places every time!) but I don't think I'll ever be prepared for Cas' balloon-filled-with-chunky-soup demise ;-)

LOL

You're right. Dean doesn't do domestication. Not in his DNA.

Exactly. Notice the glass he was downing at the supper table; that wasn't apple juice ;-)

I was thinking about you lately, wondering if you'd show up again soon:) Love it, tiger to a plow!

You're right, too, even if maybe Kripke actually planned that one from the beginning - it's just really not doable for Dean now if it ever was. Interesting though, that Sam wanted normal so bad and he's standing outside staring in at it at the end. And I guess he's still really NOT normal, not if he can black out street lights without touching them, apparently. But they made sure to make that point this season, that his whole life has been managed and he was never going to be normal.
Where IS that rugaru? We have need.

Hi, sweetums. Yes, I'm still alive!

"Swan Song" was an appropriate wrap to the story arc - but I'd love to know what changes happened once they knew there'd be a Season 6. Maybe it was as simple as adding that final shot of Sam. Sam? Sam's spirit?

Egad, but it's going to be a l-o-o-o-n-g summer's wait :-)

first the shame. I *completely* missed that Chuck was God - I just wondered why teh prophet disappeared! In my defence - emotionally traumatised at the time!

3. Agree so much.
4 ditto!
5. This is teh bit I shall cling to - that and Dean reassuring Sammy as Lucifer was killing him. :heart broken:

:only 15 minutes out from watching and still numb and in shock and ...:

it was a rough episode, no doubt. It's still hard for me to watch, but considering that Chuck tells us how Dean's really feeling, next year is going to be interesting. I'm also really interested in how the streetlight went out - does Sam still have some sort of powers? Ruby said he never needed blood.

I just don't think he's Samifer. That cage held Luci in before. Unless Michael was able to work with him, or get out...but the thing is, the Apocalypse storyline is supposed to be finished and over with this season and they're going smaller next year. I don't think they can do that if Luci is still free.

I'm not at all sold on ChuckGod. To me he was more KripkeGod. With a wink and a nod to the fans that the writers are really Sam and Dean's god, since they get to decide what happens to them.

But I loved the ep!! I haven't been this excited to write fic since my early SH days

I think the only reason ChuckGod works is because Chuck also melds into KripkeGod, and maybe it's up to the viewer to decide how much he is of either. If that makes ANY sense - it just seems a bit clever and so more acceptable? About as much sense as what I said before, that an Impala, a song played on a cassette deck, a toy soldier and two brothers who love each other could stop the Apocalypse.
