I don't know why I keep thinking up this meme-type shit up, but there you go.

Writers for Lew/Hank (Callum Keith Rennie, David Duchovny) in CALIFORNICATION are few and far between. Is it maybe an age thing? I don't know, but these two had chemistry (a drugged, drunken, sarcastic, self-destructive chemistry, but whatever). I sat down with no real idea of what I was doing and then the story did that thing where it just worked out without me thinking about it much/pounding the keys and pulling my hair/bitching near and far/sacrificing a cow and pleading to the skies.

So the story: I was happy with their banter, the fact that they were lit and decided fucking would be a good thing, and then proceeded to do it, fucking ever so la-la-la casually, having a conversation and being pretty happy about it all, until ... oops.

You have one like that? Why do you think it isn't popular?

FUCK AND DIE
, BABY

PS: I don't care if they're photoshopped to hell and back, I love the new CW promo pictures for SPN. If Sam wasn't the guy in this relationship, I'd say he's Eve in the garden what with his snake and his redrum shirt.

Don't know the 'verse, but I really liked the title/concept, playing off of the "fuck or die" trope. It was smoky: dark and hot *g*. And how awesome is it, when the damn thing pretty much writes itself?

The story that came to mind when I read your question is Two Sides of the Coin, an S&H story. It was written as part of the "Feedback Follies" challenge on the Me&Thee Yahoo Group. (Folks who wrote LOCs that month could get a story written for them, from a pool of volunteers.) Thought it turned out okay, the person I wrote it for gave me some very nice comments, and there were maybe one or two others; but otherwise, it barely made a ripple at the Group (I'm not talking here about my flisters that usually read my S&H stuff, bless their fangirl hearts *g*). Have no idea why--I had three betas and I'm sure they would have told me if it sucked; I trust them, if not myself. I think it's kind of ironic that a story written to encourage feedback hardly got any.

Well, it all comes down to people not really knowing the show, don't you think? I mean, the story is good, whether you know the show or not, but if you aren't going into it without knowing and loving Hank and Lew, I think you miss out-'cause, babes, you NAIL 'em. (Have I mentioned how much I love this piece?:))

I have a couple of favorites that are rarely commented on, at least (in comparison to other stories of mine), but they kind of don't have happy endings. I blame that.

you probably have something there. And me naming something 'fuck and die' doesn't even have the PROMISE of a happy ending:)
