I've barely been keeping up with it and found quite a lot of it boring. But I tell you something - these last two episodes have nearly maybe probably convinced me to buy the dvds when they come out.
And bonus! Badass Callum Keith Rennie, no less. Bless him.
Why do I always like the villain? Shouldn't this disturb me?
I liked Jason in the new F13 because of his poses, the way he moved, the way he broke through the floor, the way he slung lovely Clay around in the barn, the perspective the camera gave us when he was standing on the roof. For God's sake.

Edit: one of the reasons I like the last two episodes of HI (besides the fact that it's really moving along now) is that I finally care a little about what happens to some of characters, which is always key. I was actually impressed by one in particular and all because of one brief moment:

JImmy has spent the whole show being the hometown good guy, at peace with his small world and still pining for the one that got away. But that look on his face at the end of the last episode when he attempted to take whatserface's (Katie Cassidy's) weapon? It was sort of unreadable and spooky to me. He looked ill (and of course we're lead to believe he's been through a near death experience, so yeah, he'd be feeling peaked), but for a moment he just looked *wrong,* batshit brainfried crazy. I hadn't realized how much I had taken it for granted that he WAS just some white bread blue collar background noise.

But if he IS a bad guy and the Sheriff was checking into him, why did he say, "Jimmy loves you blah blah" before he died?

While I'm at it, another moment in which I liked an actor I really didn't care for the entire series: Chloe and that stunned, big-eyed numb yet grieving expression on her face when she tells the killer, "you can't have me."

Totally agree about your HI thoughts. Holy crap was that last episode ever awesome! And yes, Callum Keith Rennie was amaaaazing. I think Hollywood makes the bad guy ultra-cool on purpose, because then it almost seems scarier that they might actually get the upper hand over the "hero." Or something. I dunno, but CKR just has to stand there and glare at the camera for me to be shaking in my shoes. ;)

Wakefield's just a completely unsympathetic character here, with no real nuance. But CKR plays up the eeevil - and like with everything else he does, he's bigger than life in it.

Aw man, I want to watch Harper's Island. But I wanted to watch it all at once and my DVR cut off on the first episode. So I'm going to have to wait for DVDs. -.-

I really wasn't all that interested at first, but there was a big ensemble to introduce, you know? And these last episodes have really stepped up. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for the dvds:)

At the very least when they hit I can get them through netflix and catch everything.

What I did see of the first episode didn't impress me but I was hoping it would get more interesting. I don't like slashers much but ironically, I enjoy murder mysteries.

I honestly could barely get into it until near the end, but I really really liked these last few episodes.
