SPN spoilery thought re: Ask Ausiello

so here's this:
Question: You have to stop teasing Supernatural fans about this big Winchester brawl that's going to happen in the season finale. Just answer us this question: What causes the big hoopla? Ash
Ausiello: I honestly don't know. Maybe it has something to do with Sam's demon blood addiction. Or maybe it's fallout from a certain death that's coming up in April. Or maybe... nope, those are the only two theories I've got.
My guess as to who dies: the new brother, in some glorious gory hideous manner. And my 2nd guess would be...maybe Pamela? Though I wouldn't mind Anna gettin' it.

Date: 2009-02-19 04:00 pm (UTC)I take issue with Ausiello's assumption that Sam has a "demon blood addiction." That comes from a few fans' over-interpretation of a cryptic statement concerning the self-realization (revelation?) Sam will experience in the next-to-last episode of the season -- the experience Sera Gamble said would require a more intense word for "intense." I think it's more likely that the season-ending fight would be a direct result of that.
Isn't this fun? I mean, apart from the extra therapy sessions and liquor bills it's causing us to rack up, Supernatural is great entertainment.

Date: 2009-02-19 05:58 pm (UTC)There was another spoiler that said something like, let's just say Sam will need to attend meetings to fight his demon!blood addiction - wish I could quote more exactly what was said, but I'm at work and can't recheck. At any rate, I wasn't convinced even then, thinking it might be a reference to the blood within him, but who knows?
I have to agree: the speculation IS fun. Though I have to admit to worrying about the writers keeping all this is character for our two heroes. I sort of feel like I'm watching Sam die or something dramatic like that (wah!) because of the big changes he's been through since Dean's death. At the same time, I do approve of a show that doesn't allow the characters to stagnate - both of the guys have changed a lot this year.

Date: 2009-02-19 06:16 pm (UTC)The other spoiler was something along the lines of "Sam might have to attend meetings" or something, indicting only, really, some sort of emotional trauma or epiphany. Because it was easy to associate "meetings" with AA, someone else added the addiction/alcoholism idea, then someone quickly asked added addiction to what and came up with, "ooh demon blood"! And so on. Anyway, that's how it seemed to me.
Yes, the changes really are dramatic, and more obvious if you take the time to review earlier seasons-- and it's surprising how much foreshadowing you'll discover when you do that. There might be more than a few red herrings in there, but still, it fuels speculation to go back and try to figure out where they've meant to take us all along. Some of the changes in character we're seeing is probably just the actors becoming more seasoned, but I'm sure a lot of it is intended to be part of the arc. I feel Dean is becoming less and less a leader in Sam's eyes, and I guess in his own as well. Interestingly, Dean tends to bluster and growl more now than when he felt more secure in his moral authority. Sam's resentment, confusion and/or alarm at this is fascinating to watch as it plays out. The nuanced acting is delicious.

Date: 2009-02-19 11:55 pm (UTC)oh this is Kaye, btw
Date: 2009-02-19 04:59 pm (UTC)as long as it's not BOBBY!!!
(and who is Pamela? and Anna? - Im not that behind!)
a new brother?!?!? you are scoop central!
once again - They'd BETTER NOT KILL BOBBY!!
(hey have you written any fic for this show???)
Re: oh this is Kaye, btw
Date: 2009-02-19 05:41 pm (UTC)yep, I'm SPOILER CENTRAL for you in the next few paragraphs, so make sure you want to know what I know before you read:
Bobby is supposed to be in the last three episodes of the season, so I guess he's safe? Pamela is the woman who got blinded this season when she looked on the true angelic form of Castiel. She's the psychic with the tattoo, "Jesse forever" (except, apparently not - she basically offered herself in a threeway with the boys - go Pam!). Anna is the woman Sam and Dean saved from the demons - turns out she was an angel who fell from grace. Also Dean put the moves to her in her human form. She's a skinny git that I didn't care for in eps 9 and 10 this year.
They're doing an episode (4.19) called "Jump the Shark" to be aired here in April, and spoilers say he's a third Winchester, and that John knew about him and checked on him from time to time when he was out and about, hunting (and dallying, yeah?). Spoilers also say the 3rd brother will only be appearing in the one episode. Kripke, the creator of the show, is having fun with fans on this one, I think.
I've written very little in the fandom, but I have a multi-fandom fiction list of what I've written at the beginning of my journal if you want to look - just click on my lj and read the entry. It should appear first, I've dated it 2012 or some such year. I've written one spn flash fic, a short Wincest called Cherry Bomb, and a short gen story which is speculation as to what will happen with the demon mythology arc. Angsty as per my inclinations.
Have you written any????? Where?
Re: oh this is Kaye, btw
Date: 2009-02-19 07:41 pm (UTC)Haven't written a word, but I will . . . and you know it'll have Bobby - I love that man!
kripke is whacked - but I'll watch every minute of it . . .

Not Kaye...
Date: 2009-02-19 10:10 pm (UTC)Will catch up on yours too.
This is a bit like finding out all your friends already know your new girlfriend!
Re: oh this is Kaye, btw
Date: 2009-02-19 06:18 pm (UTC)And where's your Bobby story, I wondering?
Re: oh this is Kaye, btw
Date: 2009-02-19 07:43 pm (UTC)I think sj is planning a fic research marathon whilst I'm away, so she will carry the fic torch for a while . . .
"And where's your Bobby story, I wondering?"
Oh you know it's coming - I can't stay out of this sandbox too much longer . . . and I adore that damn Bobby!
Re: oh this is Kaye, btw
Date: 2009-02-19 08:00 pm (UTC)True about trying to keep your Rubys straight. And half the time, I think they're just giving her lines that they had to cut from Dean, so you know. Confusing.
