Remember the kitten I took in at the end of October? I heard him crying outside before dawn, and shortly thereafter he became one of the Borg (aka my family). Well, my dear Flea, aka Cottonball, aka Cottonius etc etc. is getting neutered at the vet's office today. He was pitiful this morning- didn't understand why I WOULD NOT feed his hungry self, he hated the carrier (we've taken him places before but never in the carrier - usually one of my daughters hold him), and he cried like a confused, hungry, miserable thing. My poor little Flea.

On the occasion of this, his first day in the world minus his balls, I have dragged out some photos I'd taken with our video camera not long after we first got him. He's a doll, you're gonna love him (I weep. He's not home yet.):

while I'm at it, have a picture of my beloved and lovely dog Thumper outside in the snow today. Thumper is also a former stray, just turning 13 this March

(Here via spnroundtable friends page, BTW.)

That kitten is gorgeous and totally adorable! Our old cat (see icon!) was very similar, with those big blue eyes that would gaze up at you in total innocence of any wrongdoing you might suspect her of.

Our new cat (kitten - well, he's 8 months old now) experienced his first snow today - pics on my journal (http://azziria.livejournal.com/701004.html) if you want a smile to take your mind off your poor little boy's ordeal.

do I dare ask what happened to your old cat? He (or she) is beautiful.

She died of old age early last year. She came to us at about 1 year old, having had four previous owners (the person who bred her, the guy who bought her because his girlfriend thought she was cute, the girl who rented the flat when the guy's girlfriend left him and he moved for work (who then found she was allergic to cats), and the secretary at my work who took her and then didn't want her any more when she scratched the dog badly enough to incur a vet's bill. She then lived with us for over 15 years, through a wedding, one house move, and the arrival of two children (both kids' first word was 'cat', and she was the cat they meant). We were all pretty devastated when she went, as you can imagine. But a house isn't a home without a cat, so when a friend said they knew of a kitten going spare who would 'be bombproof, given his background' we went for it. Max was born into a house with four adult cats, three children, and a Great Dane, and he has indeed proved a wonderful addition to our family.

The night that Hoshi and Toshi (Oh god, those names. I may yet do something about those names)

ah, don't rename 'em, they're cute!

I don't know why I get so worked up. I have two girl cats as well and I was the same way over them. But anyway, Flea is home now, sleeping on a pillow:)

I've seldom seen a prettier kitty. Those are beautiful pictures, too: Cute Overload-worthy.

Thumper's a cutie, too, but I'm all Cat Lady, all the time.

thanks, Mara. I had no idea that little stray was so cute when I first saw him out there spitting at me in the dark, trying to squeeze himself into a small space to get away.

Your kitty looks very much like our Clara, who also came to us spitting and hardly looking like the beauty she became; in fact, her first name as Destructo! She was so much more than just a cat, you know? Sometimes I think that certain animals find us, as yours found you, for reasons we don't understand at the time. I'm so glad you rescued him. He won't forget that, either.

I am just posting to express my generalized squee for when people post pics of kitties! Squee and kitten pictures, always great reasons to post:) How've you been - and what did you think of ASS?

I LOVED ASS! Sam is my Sam *g*

I've been good, though, thanks for asking. Trying to the find grammar fail in a story I'm working on. Heh.

kitty is home now, sleeping it off:) I do love my snowdog. In some photos she reminds me of one of Jared's dogs.

Squee! Kitty! I make embarassing noises when I see kitties - it's involuntary!

He's a real cutie - and Thumper seems stoical and alert too!

Hope Kitty comes home soon!

Did you get to bring him home?

That doesn't look like Thumper. Too hulking somehow. Thumper is more dingoish. She looks bearish there.

Or maybe I'm just used to looking at her butt.

you're right, she does look thicker. I like the words you use - bear vs. dingo, brings me mind pictures:) Hope you haven't given up the writing thing?

And yes, dog butt is what you ALWAYS see, whaddup.

yep, Flea's home, I wrote you - you'll see it in a minute. And I'm writing you another short one in a sec.

omg, he's soo cute (and tiny, but still sooo cute, awwww). I hadn't seen those pics before and wasn't around in ages, I've been such a bad friend. I remember when I had my previous cat neutered and then my little baby now. It's so hard to get through with it when they watch you with those huge puppy eyes ;) But they got through very well, both of them and I think they didn't miss anything (though my previous cat still went at it on his fave pillow *gg*).
Your dog is pretty as well.
My cat was a stray too and I've assmiliated her into my heart (or was that the other way around, with cats you never know)

Hi Sonja, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!:) So glad to see you back around again. I admit I had wondered where you'd gotten off to, but I know how things get sometimes.

I do love my animals, and I know how much you love your cat. This little boy has stolen our hearts. He's doing very well and I'm so glad that his trip to the vet is over with. I worried, couldn't help it.

I know you've not been on a lot, but I friended you some time ago under my other LJ as well, if you're interested:)

Love LOVE LOVE that you've updated your site again. I'm sorta kinda a fan of Battlestar Galactica - there's a couple of characters I'm fond of. I've gotten into Supernatural pretty big, what with the end of the world brewing and one brother threatening to go evil this season;), but I'm really not a participant in fandom, at least not much anymore.

Anyway, take care, have the happiest of birthdays and hope we talk again soon!

thank you sooo much for the b-day wishes. I hadn't fallen off the earth, just the usual stuff. I'm very glad to hear that the little one has gotten so well over the surgery.
I've gotten into SPN as well, currently they are showing S3 here and I like it, just haven't gotten around making anyhting for it (for some reason with some of my fandoms I just can't make anything working artwise for me *sigh* I gotta admit, I'm a bigger fan of the old Battlestar Galactica series than the new one, but when I see it as a dark AU, it isn't that bad ;)
But I'm glad you like the new update, I've been inspired for dark S&H art and more Bloodties art, so that made me happy a lot.

that's great - I figured since you hadn't mentioned spn, you hadn't liked it like I do, so we share yet another fandom. Makes me happy:) Please drop me a line as you get time? I've missed you.
There's some fandoms you just don't get the urge to write or be creative with, I guess. I know that's how it is with me.
I've been thinking about checking out the old BSG - it's been a loooong time since I saw it, but I used to watch it every week when it first came on. Loved Richard Hatch:) He's great in the new version, too.
I just ordered the Bloodties dvd from the UK - seems like they'll never release it here in the US, and amazon uk had it for a ridiculously cheap price. I have one dvd player that plays all regions, so I couldn't resist!
