So, we had a big warehouse fire here Wednesday morning, made the national news. And the boss let me stay home because of my asthma, being as our office is pretty close to the fire. I walked the dog that afternoon and even here, my eyes watered continually and I had to use my inhaler in the middle of the walk. I wasn't really surprised - I'm not all that far away.

Those old warehouses have sat there for so long. Crumbling, windows shattered, hulking relics. I liked them for that. Someone should have written a horror story about them.

wowsa....I wouldn't know where to start if that thing was burning, except to tell my crew to stay out! It reminds me of the Worchester warehouse fire that killed a bunch of firefighters in 1999.....I hope no one was hurt.

3 firefighters were hospitalized with 2nd and 3rd degree burns. Two are brothers. They were trapped, with no time to rescue them -they escaped by using the firehose as a rope, basically, to climb down.

Another had a slight knee injury.

More would have been injured-the floors inside collapsed and the building front came down just after the firemen had been warned. I saw the footage and I don't really see how they made it. I think you can find it on YouTube or you can go to wate.com or wbir.com and see the footage they showed on the news.

They can't even get in to determine the cause, either - it's so unsafe. The city wants what's left of the warehouses to be demolished today, though I don't think that's going to happen.

Wow. Amazing story.

What fabulous old buildings. It's such a shame. My first thought when I saw the photo showing the "corpse" in the foreground of the surrounding area was that it might have been one of those convenient "development fires." If that's what it was, just imagine my thoughts about karma.

That third photo was stunning - and I bet it would look spectacular at night, lit by moonlight.
Very horror gothic.

wow, that's a pretty dramatic story with the fire and some pretty stunning pictures. Just hope your asthma hasn't gotten that bad
