these are a list of gen stories that I enjoyed. Spoilers, I talk about the plot line.
Annabeth fics (Lily) The Attack Took Place in the Late-Night Heat – Sam’s attacked and Dean didn’t know

by Dayspring A Dog’s Life Dean’s at Bobby’s drunk, and Sam’s going to Stanford. Really short but she’s got a nice ‘Bobby’ voice

Eighth Horizon (aka barb stearns, aka gekizetsu) All But Risen – (I don't even know if this is supposed to be Wincest or Gen, can't remember, but don't think it matters to the story) -Dean’s in a coma. Sam theatens to read Fried Green Tomatoes and Ya-Ya Sisterhood to him.
Also by her: Specific Relativity – Sam’s not quite right, but mostly happy. Protective!Dean takes care of him. Case fic, Dean hunts for the special children gone bad. Cuddling, mild angst. I like it, both of the boys are such charmers here.
Glassshoe Unthinkable –love this. After BYABS, Sam has to make sure he can stop himself, by suicide if necessary
Innie Darling - Sunshine State - also love this, Sam's days at Stanford, he meets a guy named Ben and there's some good OCs in here, there's some really poignant things that remind of Dean a lot here, ends just before Dean shows up at the college to get Sam and where Sam's having the dreams about Jess
also by her - Vocabulary – Sam’s given an assignment at school: You will complete this sentence: ‘I am .’ He sees a lot of who he is by watching and listening to Dean.
Killa - Crossroad Dirt -excellent, lots of character exploration. Sam, Dean and Dad hole up at a veterinarian’s but it won’t be long before the demons find them again
Kroke-refs Laid Low by Demascus - short, why Sam went to college. He was left alone for days with no food, no hope, while Dean and Dad are gone. VERY well done
Passenger/With Spit and a Prayer/This Above All 3, maybe – notable for it’s sheer duration and strength of agony. Possession again, Dean rapes Sam. The end peters out a bit
Lemmealone Fire or Fire - Sam gets Dean out of hell - only he doesn't remember 'how'
Lovesrain44 - This is Sparta and follow-ups – Sam and Dean as teens, growing up with their dad. Sam hates the training. It’s summer and Sam breaks a crossbow, runs from his dad down the mountain, his dad finds him and beats him. Later installment: he gets cut when Dean shoves him through a window. There’s a sense that a young man is really the narrator, 3rd person limited POV, nice.
Reap the Wild Wind – Sam’s dead or is he? Explosion in a cemetery. Andy returns, as does Missouri and Ellen, Bobby and a little bit of Jo. Sam’s a sort of winged reaper. There are sequels.
Pdragon76 The Mystery Mile – the Mystery Mile is an area where people are suddenly going wild and attacking each other, Sam and Dean go to see about it. Some nice brotherly infighting.
This last one is Wincest but it’s really long and heart-breaking, no happy ending here: In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida – broke my heart – Sam learns he’s not who he thinks he is. Novel length.
