We had a similar situation with Merlin a while ago. Merlin is one of the friendliest dogs you can imagine. One day, two women went past our house with a husky. Merlin was in the garden with my nephew and got loose. He went to the husky with wagging tail, wanting to play with him. The husky turned around and bit Merlin viciously in the head. Without warning. It didn't help that one of the women took a shoe and hit Merlin on his head again and again. That was the point when our usually friendly dog saw red. I've never seen him like that. If my mom and I hadn't pulled them apart (which was dangerous in itself) I'm pretty sure that one of the dogs would have killed each other. Okay - it was our dog who was loose, but THEIR husky had started the fight and had bitten our dog. Oh the drama. You have no idea.
Anyway, my point: it's stupid to say "my dog doesn't bite". You can NEVER look into the head of an animal. I do hope that child of hers won't pay the price for the immense stupidity of that person. And how rude of her to yell at you when it was HER dog that was loose! Sheesh! :(
