wow, it's flooding all over, cars stranded, tornado warnings, shelters opening, though it seems the worst is past. I live on a hill, so I had no problems until I came down OFF the hill. Hell, I was fairly unaware of what all was going on, though I knew of course that the storms were pretty tremendous. I did some cleaning and went to the store, and didn't listen to the radio or watch TV this morning, which I kept meaning to check in on the situation, but... anyway, apparently while I was inside there was a tornado warning. Mom called as I was leaving - her backyard is flooded over half-way up to the house, and the houses on either side are worse - one of them has water in the basement. The kids first had drills at school and then the warning came. Activities were cancelled, AND to add to it all, my eldest daughter's school went on lockdown today.
Hope everyone else is okay.
ETA: The middle school still hasn't been dismissed and it's 4 pm. We're trying to find out what's happening. The four lane main street below me is completely flooded, rushing like a river. It's on the news right now, check it:
Some foolish people are trying to drive through. Uh, oh, somebody's stuck. I can stand outside on the porch and see this mess - and it's the street right in front of the store I was at a half hour ago, which was at the time completely UNflooded. God protects drunks and fools, I guess.
further ETA: School's out, everything's fine, though there were policemen at my daughter's school today, searching for someone who may have been armed. We're still really not sure yet, that's all hearsay. (update - the police were chasing someone in the area so it was for safety, to keep intruders out). Mom's yard has receded, though she's still got neighbors on either side with flooded yards.
still flooded at 7:30. Gonna be interesting getting to work tomorrow.
Hope everyone else is okay.
