My daughter wrote me from her class at the university with a link, an article talking about what Drumpf's effect might have on LGBTQ rights with a Republican Congress behind him. She called me Momma when she usually calls me Mom. She is frightened, as my friends are (and my Mom, at 82, is as well - we knew we wouldn't win the vote in TN but anyone eligible in the family voted early anyway), and very worried about losing her right to marry. She was so happy when it became law of the land.
I told her we fight on, but it feels hollow. Because I'm scared, too, and I feel lost. I followed the news and the polls for months, trying to control that fear. Now I'm shocked, and sleepless, and having a hard time with my blood pressure since last night.

I watched Bill Maher last episode and he seemed frightened and near-humorless in his intensity.

What do we do next? How do we cope? If I think about all the possible consequences--I can't handle it right now.
