Rachel put together her first vid, a year ago or so - she gathered the clips off youtube. She's just turned 17 now, hard to believe, but when she made it she was 15 or 16. I've pretty much let my girls watch what they want for years now, judging them to be fairly thoughtful, critical persons with a clear grasp of reality vs.story-telling, and both of them are Dexter fans.

The vid is divided up into two parts - the first features a happy Dexter with a family life when Rita was still alive. This part of the vid is sweet and slow moving. Then it seques into another song ("Animal I Have Become") and throws in lots of violence. The vid is long and somewhat repetitive, like a lot of first-time efforts (or 2nd, 3rd, etc), but let me tell you this - the end of this vid literally gives me more chills, makes me feel a horrified pity and just moves me more than any other vid I've seen. I think that's amazing, that Rachel was able to accomplish that with a first vid.

The combo she hit on there at the end - young Dexter mixed in with scenes of Dexter as a grown-up - they're difficult scenes, a bit hard to watch and listen to. I need to upload this and show you!

Just keep in mind - there's LOTS of gore in it. Rae's dark, like her Mom;)

I uploaded it to vimeo, it should be ready shortly for those who are interested.

small fandom/character/pairing - Alias Smith and Jones
ah, ASJ, how I love that show. Riffing off of Butch and Sundance, the show aired in 1971-1973 (in the second year one of the leads, Pete Duel, tragically committed suicide, but the show went on with a replacement - though not for long). The chemistry between Duel and Ben Murphy holds up and then some to this day. The two main characters are the quick-draw Kid Curry (with the curly hair) and his partner, the sly, intelligent Heyes (with his "silver tongue," as the Kid described it). I've never seen two guys who can yell at each other and still maintain a palpable sense of adoration for each other, every single moment, until I saw these two.

Best episode ever: The Bounty Hunter (with Louis Gossett, Jr.)

This is a vid I did, back when I was still doing them.

My old vids are up at a03 (via embeds from youtube and one from vimeo). Many of them aren't very good, but they all have heart - and some are still fun. You can find them here at a03 (10 Starsky & Hutch, 1 Dante's Cove, 1 Planet of the Apes TV series, 1 Alias Smith and Jones)

Mirien's "The Days Worth Living" - a feel good S&H vid with bittersweet moments.

Starsky's drunk and BURROWING into Hutch's arm in the car - a scene from Moonshine. Also, Hutch's shirt spread open earlier in the bar scene, and his chest is bare and brown and teh pretty. Also, he catches Starsky when he falls down with this great matter-of-fact exasperation.

When Hutch throws Starsky over in the wrestling ring, he does it with such ENTHUSIASM. His whole body flies over and WHUMPS Starsk to the ring floor.

The baffled look on Starsky's face when the bomb blows and throws him into Hutch's arms.

From Playboy Island, the boys are standing there in their ridiculous costumes, and Hutch has his hands in his pockets, this sly look on his face. He looks about 12. He looks like Tom Sawyer unleashed.

Right after that scene, Hutch jogs up to the Torino, and Starsky's in shorts and his zipper's down at his navel, approximately. A good moment for the universe.

Near the end, Starsky's in the hospital bed, Hutch is under the sheets (things that make you go !!!!) and the nurse peeks in. Starsky's clutching the silver platter thingum full of food, looking sheepish. Very endearing.

Thanks to Mirien for the vid. I loves the vidders:)
