buzzzzz

I have poison ivy. ON MY FACE. Around my nostrils. Heading towards soft tissue (shriek)!
They gave me 12 days of Prednisone and my brain is leaking out of my ears.
Earlier I posted a thing where you can ask to see anything on my desktop. Cass asked if I'm being an exhibitionist. The answer is YES.
I know I'm not around much, but if you have anything you feel like asking, if you have an urge or want to see something, ask. I'll PROBABLY do it.
If not, maybe I'm saved because I am roid raging and cannot TRUST MYSELF.

Oh Kass, poor baby! I had exactly the same thing a few years ago, from burning brush to which someone had added fresh poison ivy, without my knowledge. It took two courses of prednisone to clear it up; don't be surprised if it takes you that long. For faster-acting relief, I used a product called Zanfel that you can buy in the drug store -- it's pretty expensive, like about $35, but it really, really works. I can't recommend it highly enough. Sometimes you have to ask the pharmacist for it because it has a tendency to walk off the shelves all by itself at this time of year, if you get my drift.

Sending you all kinds of comforting energy.

Oh that sucks. I've never had poison ivy, but I know what it's like to be uncontrollably itchy. Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. *gah*
I don't know if this will work for you, since it's on your face, but hot water (like in the shower, as hot as you can stand, for as long as you can stand) might give you some relief. Something about drawing the histamines out of the skin ... it'll itch as you're doing it, but it'll feel better afterwards, and it lasts a while. For me, it lasted longer than the Rx steroid cream. Kept me from going completely apeshit when I was having radiation treatment.
Hang in there, sweetie.
