Nadine's characterization feels a lot like the book's, and the sense of dread, of standing against a power that will surely mean your own death, is very strong - which is also much like the book. But there's hopefulness within the story, a sense that the characters might beat the odds. Very nicely written, great sense of atmosphere and insight into the characters.
of course I will! I was going to tell you about this one but figured you'd see the post. I don't look at Yuletide a lot, though - I see the recs and check out some stories (this was one of them) and then I check out fandoms as well.
